Welcome Back - Term 2

Hello Room 27!

WELCOME BACK!

We hope you have had a fun and safe school holidays.

School will resume on Wednesday, 29th April for Term 2. If you are staying at home, the Online Work Packages can be accessed through:

• The Department of Education's Connect website: https://connect.det.wa.edu.au using your school user name and password issued by email.

OR 

• The school website: https://www.wattlegroveps.wa.edu.au/ using the connect passwords issued by email.

Information on how to access these sites will also be sent home. For those that require a hard copy Work Package, please contact the office to arrange a pickup time. In the meantime, stay safe and we are looking forward to seeing or hearing from you all as soon as possible.

Literacy Pro Update

Hello Room 27!

Ms Martin and I have been keeping a close eye on Literacy Pro. Just like in class, I will be posting a weekly update of the Literacy Pro Leader Board and Certificate Chart. 

Congratulations to Jake and Riley for achieving their Blue certificate and to Francis for achieving his Bronze certificate last week. These will be waiting for you when you come back to school.

Remember to read books and complete a quiz at YOUR Lexile level EACH day to ensure we meet our class goals for the term.

PR1ME Books

Dear Parents,

Thank you for collecting your child’s PR1ME Books today. Please don’t start any activities in those books just yet. We will include the page numbers and activities in our Weekly Work Packages. 

As information from the school is currently being distributed via email, please ensure that you check your email ‘spam’ or ‘junk’ folder for any correspondence.

Spelling Groups

These are the new recommended spelling groups for the rest of this term. Students should know which group they are in, however, they may wish to work on spelling words from other groups too as an extension.

In the wake of recent events, the Education Department has set up an online site called 'Learning at Home', for those at home during these times. Resources are available across all year levels and many learning areas. Please find the link through the 'Extra Online Activities and Resources' tab.

Bushfire Fundraiser

Congratulations to the students and families of WGPS for raising over $1400 in our 'Aussie Day' fundraiser. The money raised will be donated to those affected by the recent bushfires.

Save Fred!

To finish off a busy and very successful first week back, the students were given a fun collaborative group task to solve. Their mission: Save Fred! Fred is a worm who went sailing in a boat. Unfortunately Fred was not wearing his life jacket when it suddenly upturned in rough seas. Fred ended up on top of his upturned boat with his life jacket underneath. The students had to work collaboratively in their groups to help Fred get his life jacket on. However, they could not touch Fred, the boat or his life jacket with their hands. They were given 4 paperclips to use instead to save Fred. This activity involved lots of cooperation and teamwork, and I am pleased to say that 2 groups were able to save Fred!
